how to dry shampoo

Dry shampoo can be tricky. More than that, it’s probably one of the most misunderstood hair products. The majority of my clients who have used dry shampoo tell me that it simply doesn't work for them. Fortunately, dry shampoo does work for most people and most hair types. And unfortunately, you’re probably using it incorrectly. I’ve found that most of us are. Did you know that dry shampoo actually works best when applied to clean, dry hair? You can find this tip below along with step by step instructions for applying dry shampoo and enjoying the benefits of fewer washes and overall healthier hair!

  • Remember to begin with clean, dry hair. Your dry shampoo should be applied the day of your wash, after blowdrying. Dry shampoo works best when used to counteract grease, not cut it.

  • Lift your hair and spray dry shampoo directly onto your roots in short bursts, holding the can about 6 inches away.

  • Wait about 60 seconds and work through your roots with your fingers, almost as if shampooing your hair.

  • Brush your hair thoroughly and blow-dry to diffuse any extra product, if desired.

  • Continue this step every day until your next wash. I recommend that my clients wash their hair every 3 days at most.
